Description
Draped in , the 2027 Polaris 850 Switchback® XC 146 1.6 7S is the kind of crossover that makes you look at a groomed trail and a fresh drift and think, “Why not both?” Built on the aluminum MATRYX platform, it’s light on its feet and eager to change direction, yet planted enough to keep things composed when the pace climbs.
At the heart of the fun is the liquid-cooled, 2-cylinder Patriot™ 840cc 2-stroke—fuel-injected, oil-injected, and ready to snap to attention with a thumb of the throttle. Fire it up with the electric start (and keep the pull start in your back pocket for peace of mind), feed it regular fuel, and let the CVT with belt drive do what it does best: keep you in the sweet spot as conditions and confidence change. When it’s time to maneuver in tight spots, reverse is there to save you from awkward heaves and helmeted negotiations.
The Switchback’s trail manners come from its independent A-arm front suspension with 9.5 inches of travel and a full suite of Fox® QS3 adjustable gas shocks with remote reservoirs up front, in the center, and out back. Out back, the IGX rear suspension delivers 16 inches of travel—enough range to smooth chatter, soak up surprises, and keep the ride feeling sporty instead of sloppy.
Down at snow level, the Cobra Track (146" x 15" with 1.6" lugs) brings the traction to bridge the worlds between hardpack speed runs and playful off-trail exploring. Pro-Steer™ composite skis with carbide skags help it hold a line when you want precision, and the Matryx Stealth hydraulic disc brake is there when it’s time to rein things in.
Inside the cockpit, it’s rider-first: a one-piece vinyl seat, mid-height tinted LED lighting, rubber grips with adjustable heat, plus hand guards and a snow guard for extra comfort when winter starts biting back. Add RIDE COMMAND™ GPS to keep your adventures organized, and you’ve got a machine that doesn’t just get you there—it makes the getting there the best part.
