Description

Meet the 2027 Polaris 850 RMK® SPS 165 ES in —a mountain sled that looks like it was built to disappear into the treeline and reappear on top of the next ridgeline, grinning. (And if you’re the type who likes options, this model also comes in Gloss Black or INDY® Red / White Lightning / Gloss Black—but this one wears like it owns the elevation.)

At the heart of it is the Patriot™ powerplant: a liquid-cooled, 2-cylinder, 2-stroke with 840 cc of get-up-and-go, breathing through a reed valve setup and fed by fuel injection. It runs on regular fuel, keeps things clean and crisp with gas / oil injection, and sends its punch out through a single exhaust. The whole experience is simple in the best way: thumb throttle, CVT drive, and belt-driven power delivery that’s ready to snap from “just cruising” to “that line is happening” with a quick squeeze.

When the slope turns from “trail” into “problem,” the RMK personality shows up. The MATRYX aluminum frame keeps things strong and responsive without feeling like you’re wrestling a tank, and at a dry weight of 452 lb, it’s built to play in technical terrain where balance and quick inputs matter. The stance is tunable too, with a 36" to 38" ski stance range—handy when you want to thread tighter trees one day and open it up the next.

Up front, the sled rides on RMK® React™ independent A-arm suspension with 9 inches of travel, controlled by Polaris IFP adjustable gas shocks with coil-over design. Out back, the RMK rear suspension delivers 16 inches of travel with two rear shocks, plus a center IFP adjustable gas shock to keep the chassis composed when the snow turns inconsistent. Everything’s set up with shock-mounted adjustment, so dialing in your feel is more “quick tune” than “engineering project.”

The business end—the part that turns powder into forward motion—is a Series 8 track measuring 165 x 15 with 2.75" lugs. That long footprint is made for mountain work: float when it’s deep, claw when it’s steep, and keep momentum when the climb stops being polite. Guiding it are Gripper® plastic skis with carbide skags, giving you bite when you need to hold a line and predictable steering when the snowpack changes every hundred yards.

Comfort and control aren’t an afterthought either. You get ProTaper™ handlebars with manual steering, heated, adjustable driver grips, and a low tinted LED setup that keeps visibility sharp when the light fades but the ride isn’t over. There’s a straightforward set of cues as well—fuel level gauge and a temperature warning light—so you can focus on the terrain instead of guessing what the machine is thinking.

And when the moment comes to pivot, back out, or reset for another hit, it’s ready: electric start for easy wake-ups, reverse for the inevitable “that looked easier from down there,” and hydraulic disc rear braking branded RMK® to keep things controlled when gravity wants the final word. Practical touches like the belt guard, snow guard, and skid-resistant floorboards round out the package, along with a clean one-piece vinyl seat made for one rider and one mission: finding the next reason to point uphill.

In , this 850 RMK® SPS 165 ES doesn’t just look the part—it feels like a dedicated mountain tool that’s happiest when the map ends and the fresh snow starts.
